Poem--My Forever Valentine...

Unseen, yet seen; unknown, yet known…
Stranger, who are you
That I recognise with a deeper eye?

I have felt you in the ocean—
Restless and deep, powerful and endless;
Mysterious and boundless in wisdom;
The surging tides of your thoughts
Breaking as mighty waves,
Wearing away the knurled rocks of narrow-mindedness;
Forever changing, forever unchanging…

I have sensed you in the eagle,
Untamed, untameable; the free soul…
Keen and wild; a leader, a king;
Fearless, soaring miles above;
A mind sharpened by intellect,
Relentless in its quest
For its goal.

I have heard your laughter
In the gushing melody of birds,
Breaking the stillness of the morning air…
Sweeter than music, entrancing in tone,
Evoking a thrill in every heart.

I have heard the echo of your voice—
In the song of the river,
Cascading over the rocks;
In the whisper of the trees,
Fluttering with the swirling wind;
In the velvet strains of the violin,
It's bow, upon heartstrings, drawn.

I have seen your image
In the first glow of dawn;
Your shadow, in the moonless night;
I have seen you, as the tree,
Forever generous, forever giving;
I have sensed your tenderness
In the touch of a rose petal;
I have thrilled to your caress—
The wind's fingers through my hair…
In thunder, I saw your anger;
In clouds, your unshed tears.

And, yes—I have felt you in me…
In my yearning, my longing;
In the emptiness, the void
That you alone can fill truly;
In the warmth and ardour
That thoughts of you radiate…
In the hope with which my heart
Has kept alight a lamp of love.

Stranger, you are my own—
As I am yours…
Ageless and beyond time,
You have been with me:
Less than a memory,
More than a thought—
My soul's Forever Valentine,
I await you...
