Poem--Enkindled…

Read your answer in my eyes;
Read!—that though I deny it
With every breath I draw
To myself and to you,
You have set my soul afire—
And like a figurine of wax,
I am melting into nothingness,
Yielding to your power…
What fire is this? I have poured
My tears as rain to quench it—
And it just more fiery grew!
I have wrung out
The life-blood from my heart
Drop-by-drop, to stifle it,
But like Ghee in fire, it blazed;
Then burn! I can fight no longer;
Consume me, engulf me…
Yet—how did Ice set such a fire?
But that it would yield to it too!
